A perpetual CAD licence with no subscription: $2,490 a seat, and you keep it.
Solldworkss is 3D CAD software sold the old way. You buy a seat once, it runs on your Windows machine for as long as the machine does, and a maintenance year at $590 is optional. Stop paying and the last release you had keeps working. Every purchase is a quote request; there is no cart and no card form on this site.
01How the licence works
You own the seat. Updates are the part you rent.
A Standard seat is $2,490 one-time. Professional is $3,890 and adds the solvers and 5-axis posts. Both include the first maintenance year. After that, $590 per seat per year keeps updates and email support coming. Skip a year and nothing switches off.
Compare that with a SolidWorks or Inventor subscription and the arithmetic over five years is short. One Standard seat with five maintenance years costs $2,490 plus four renewals at $590, so $4,850. Without renewals it is still $2,490, and your .swsx files still open in release N+10 because the format is published.

The full parametric modeller: Part, Assembly up to 50,000 unique components, Drawing to ISO 128 and ASME Y14.5, Sheet metal with the shipped K-factor table, and CAM-Post 3-axis. Node-locked to one Windows 10 22H2 or Windows 11 machine; moving it to a new PC takes one deactivation and is unlimited.
Right for most mechanical design work where analysis is done elsewhere or not at all. Two add-ons can lift it later without changing the licence.

$3,890 one-time per seat
Everything in Standard plus Simulation (linear static, modal and steady-state thermal, up to 2M elements) and CAM-Post 5-axis. This is the seat for teams who want CAD with built-in FEA and do not want to send geometry to a separate analysis package for a stiffness check.
Buying Standard now and both add-ons later costs $5,070. Professional up front saves $1,180, so if you already know you need the solver, start here.

Twelve months of major and patch releases, email support from the Austin team with a first reply inside one business day, and access to pre-release builds. Same price for Standard and Professional seats. It renews only when you ask it to.
What it does not cover: on-site training, custom post-processor development or consulting on your models. Those are quoted separately when someone asks, which is rarely.

For teams of five seats or more. A floating network licence for CAD lets twelve engineers share five seats when they are rarely all modelling at once. The licence service (
sws-lmd) installs on a Windows Server 2019 or 2022 machine on your own network; clients check a seat out on launch and return it on close, with a 15-minute grace if the network drops.Maintenance for floating seats is the same $590 per concurrent seat per year. Seats can be borrowed offline for up to 14 days for site visits.

SKU 05Teaching seats run the same build as commercial ones. Educational seat
$0 accredited students and faculty
Student CAD, free, with the full Standard feature set. We verify by email domain: register with your university address and the seat activates once the link is clicked. The seat renews every 12 months while the address still receives mail.
Two limits, both on purpose. Drawing exports carry a watermark reading educational use, and the licence forbids commercial work. If a student project turns into a startup, the seat converts to Standard at list price and the watermark comes off old files on re-export.

Prices are list in USD, excluding any sales tax that applies in your state. They are not a binding quote. A written quote comes back from the contact form, usually within one business day, and holds for 30 days.

Drop renewals for a year and nothing stops. The seat is yours. That is the whole licence model.
04How buying works
From inquiry to licence key

Trial first
A 30-day Professional trial, Windows installer, no card. Open your own STEP AP242 files on it before you talk to anyone.

Send the form
Seat count, Standard or Professional, node-locked or floating. A written quote returns within one business day.
- 03
Invoice and pay
Bank transfer or a purchase order with net-30 terms for companies. We do not take card payments through this site.
- 04
Key issued
The licence key arrives by email when payment clears. The trial install converts in place, so nothing is reinstalled and no file is touched.

Is there a monthly plan?
No. We sell perpetual seats only. If you need CAD for three months on one project, a subscription product from someone else is probably cheaper, and we would say so on the phone.
Do you discount volume?
Above ten seats, ask. The list prices on this page are what one to nine seats cost, and we do not run seasonal sales that punish customers who bought last month.
What happens to files if we stop paying maintenance?
Nothing. The installed release keeps working, and the free sws-view reader opens every .swsx file forever. The format spec is listed on the docs page.
Who should not buy this?
Teams on macOS or Linux, and anyone who needs a browser tool or a cloud tenant. Solldworkss is Windows only, by design. The product page lists the exact build matrix.
